GoHighLevel AI Employee Plan: What's Included, Pricing, and How Agencies Sell It (2026)
12 min read · Updated May 2026
The GoHighLevel AI Employee is a collection of AI tools — Voice AI, Conversation AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, and Funnel AI — that automate customer calls, chat responses, review management, and content creation inside GoHighLevel. You can pay per use or subscribe to the Unlimited plan at $97/month per sub-account for unmetered access to core AI Employee features. This is separate from your base GoHighLevel subscription ($97–$497/month).
I've been using GoHighLevel's AI tools since they first launched Conversation AI, and honestly, the pricing used to drive me crazy. You'd enable it for a client, watch the usage tick up, and have no idea what the bill would look like at the end of the month. The metered pricing made it almost impossible to package for clients with any confidence.
The AI Employee plan changed that. For a flat $97 per month per sub-account, you get unlimited access to the core AI tools — no per-message billing, no credit tracking, no surprises. I've been running it across multiple sub-accounts for months now, and for anyone doing agency work or running a business with any real conversation volume, it's the obvious choice.
This guide breaks down exactly what's included, what still costs extra, how to set it up, and how agencies are actually packaging and selling it.

The AI Employee isn't a single feature — it's a collection of five AI-powered tools bundled under one umbrella inside GoHighLevel:
Voice AI handles inbound phone calls autonomously. It answers questions, qualifies leads, books appointments, and transfers to humans when needed. As of early 2026, it supports custom voice profiles, sub-600 millisecond latency with GPT-5 Mini, and the ability to use your existing business phone number. See our Voice AI 2026 guide for full pricing and setup details.
Conversation AI is the multi-channel chatbot. It monitors incoming SMS, web chat, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, and WhatsApp messages. Train it on your business information and it responds to leads automatically — answering FAQs, qualifying prospects, and booking appointments without human involvement.
Reviews AI automates your reputation management. It sends review requests after triggers you define (appointment completed, invoice paid, project closed) and can auto-respond to incoming Google and Facebook reviews based on sentiment and your brand voice.
Content AI is GoHighLevel's writing assistant. It generates social media posts, email copy, blog content, SMS messages, and landing page text. Not the most sophisticated writing tool out there, but for quick drafts and first passes it saves genuine time.
Funnel AI is the newer addition. You describe what you want in plain language and it generates full funnel pages. You get five free builds, then it's $0.99 per generation — or unlimited if you're on the AI Employee plan.
AI Employee Pricing: The Two Models
GoHighLevel gives you two ways to pay for AI usage:
Pay-Per-Use (Default)
Every AI action gets billed individually. Conversation AI charges per message based on token usage at API pricing. Voice AI bills per minute with separate charges for the voice engine, text-to-speech, and LLM tokens. The average Voice AI cost across the platform is roughly $0.163 per minute.
This model works if you're testing AI features on a single sub-account with low volume — maybe a handful of chat interactions per day or a few voice calls per week. But costs scale linearly with usage, which makes budgeting unpredictable.
Unlimited Plan — $97/Month Per Sub-Account
For $97 per month, you get unmetered usage of the core AI Employee features: Conversation AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Funnel AI, and Ask AI. Voice AI (inbound) is also included under the unlimited plan.
The key word is per sub-account. If you have 10 clients each on their own sub-account with AI Employee enabled, that's $970 per month in AI costs on top of your platform subscription. This is separate from the base GoHighLevel plan ($97/$297/$497).

What's NOT Included in the Unlimited Plan
This is where people get tripped up. The $97/month unlimited plan doesn't cover everything AI-related in GoHighLevel. The features branded as AI Employee Plus are billed separately on a pay-per-use basis regardless of your plan:
- Agent Studio — building custom AI agents with the visual builder
- Voice AI Widget — the embeddable voice orb for websites
- Voice AI Outbound — AI-initiated outbound phone calls
- Voice AI Prompt Optimizer — the AI tool that improves your voice prompts
Phone and SMS carrier charges through LC Phone or Twilio are always billed separately too. The AI Employee plan covers the AI processing, not the telecom costs.
Also worth noting: GoHighLevel's fair use policy applies. If your usage is deemed excessive or abusive, they reserve the right to throttle or limit access. In practice, I've never hit this running normal agency operations across multiple accounts, but it's there in the terms.
What's Free (No Charge at All)
Several AI features in GoHighLevel are now completely free — no credits, no AI Employee plan required:
- AI Studio (building websites and funnels with AI) is free through HighLevel Labs with no credit limits. GoHighLevel has said they don't have immediate plans to charge for it.
- Ask AI is free for all agency admins and agency users. For sub-account users, it requires the $97/month AI Employee plan.
- Some workflow AI features have moved to free access as well.
The landscape here changes frequently. GoHighLevel has been progressively making more AI features free while keeping the unlimited plan as the predictable pricing option for heavy users.
How to Enable the AI Employee
Setting it up takes about five minutes:
Step 1: Switch to Agency View in GoHighLevel. Click the agency switcher at the top left of the sidebar.
Step 2: Navigate to Settings, then click the Company tab.
Step 3: Scroll down until you see the AI Employee toggle. Enable it.
Step 4: Once enabled at the agency level, go to each sub-account where you want AI Employee active and enable it individually. You control which sub-accounts have access.
Step 5: Choose your pricing model. If you want the unlimited plan, go to the Reselling tab in Agency View, find AI Employee Reselling, and configure your pricing. This is where you set the price your clients see.
How Agencies Package and Sell AI Employee
This is where the AI Employee gets interesting from a business model perspective. Most agencies aren't selling "AI Employee access for $97/month" — they're packaging it into branded services at a significant markup.
The AI Receptionist Package ($200–$400/month)
The most common package I've seen agencies sell. You configure Voice AI to answer inbound calls, book appointments, handle FAQs, and qualify leads. Sold to dental offices, medical spas, salons, HVAC companies, and other service businesses that miss a significant number of phone calls.
Your cost: $97/month (AI Employee unlimited) plus phone/SMS carrier costs. Your price: $200–$400/month. Your margin: $100–$300/month per client, recurring.
The Full AI Employee Package ($300–$600/month)
Voice AI plus Conversation AI plus Reviews AI combined. The complete AI front desk — handles phone, chat, SMS, and review management automatically.
Your cost: $97/month AI Employee plus carrier costs (maybe $20–$50 depending on call volume). Your price: $300–$600/month. Your margin: $150–$450/month per client.
White-Label SaaS Markup
On the Agency Pro ($497/month) plan, you can rebill AI Employee with markup. This means you set your own price — say $197/month — and GoHighLevel bills you $97 while you keep the difference automatically. Your client sees your brand, your pricing, your invoice.
On the Unlimited plan ($297/month), you can only rebill at cost. No markup. If the markup matters to your business model, you need Agency Pro.
The Math: When Unlimited Beats Pay-Per-Use
The break-even point depends on your usage, but here's a rough guide:
Conversation AI: At pay-per-use token pricing, a sub-account processing around 3,000–5,000 messages per month will likely exceed $97 in AI costs. If you're running active chatbots on SMS and web chat for a busy local business, you'll hit this quickly.
Voice AI: The average cost is $0.163/minute. At that rate, roughly 600 minutes of Voice AI calls per month hits $97. For a business receiving 10–15 inbound calls per day at an average of 3 minutes each, that's about 900–1,350 minutes per month — well above the break-even.
For most agency sub-accounts with active AI features, the unlimited plan pays for itself within the first month.
The exception: if you're only using Content AI or Reviews AI with low volume, pay-per-use might be cheaper. But the moment you add Conversation AI or Voice AI with any real traffic, unlimited wins.
Ask AI and the AI Employee Plan
Ask AI is GoHighLevel's built-in AI assistant — a full-screen workspace where you can generate content, get answers, build assets, and trigger actions through natural language prompts. It's not a chatbot tucked in a sidebar; it's a proper AI workspace.
Ask AI is free for agency-level users. But for sub-account access — letting your clients or their team members use it — it requires the AI Employee unlimited plan.
Recent updates have made Ask AI significantly more powerful. It now has memory across conversations, voice input, file attachments, and as of May 2026, scheduled tasks — the ability to set recurring AI prompts that run automatically. There's also mobile access on iOS and Android.
If you're on the AI Employee plan, Ask AI is included. If you're on pay-per-use, Ask AI usage is billed per session based on model complexity.
What's Coming: AI Employee Updates (May 2026)
GoHighLevel continues to expand the AI Employee ecosystem rapidly. Key developments as of May 2026:
- Cheaper subscription tiers are confirmed as coming soon. GoHighLevel's official pricing docs note that new, lower-priced AI Employee plans are in development.
- Ask AI rolling out to sub-accounts by end of May 2026, which will expand the reach of the AI workspace to client teams.
- Billing dashboard for tracking AI spend by workflow is in development, along with a Pricing Explorer for live cost estimates and usage limit controls for agencies.
- AI Agent workflow action — a premium workflow step that uses plain-language instructions to autonomously plan and execute multi-step tasks. This is billed separately as a premium action.
The trajectory is clear: more AI features becoming free or included, with the unlimited plan becoming the go-to for any sub-account with meaningful usage.
My Take: Who Should (and Shouldn't) Get the AI Employee Plan
Get the unlimited plan if:
- You're running Conversation AI on any sub-account with more than a few conversations per day
- You're deploying Voice AI for inbound call handling
- You're an agency reselling AI-powered services to clients
- You want predictable monthly costs instead of variable usage billing
- You need Ask AI access at the sub-account level for your team or clients
Stay on pay-per-use if:
- You're only using Content AI or Reviews AI at low volume
- You're testing AI features on a single sub-account before committing
- Your client's business has very low inbound communication volume
For most agencies running GoHighLevel seriously, the AI Employee unlimited plan isn't optional — it's the baseline. The real business model is in packaging these tools at 2–5x markup under your own brand.
